Productive Weekends: My Least Favorite Kind

This past weekend wasn't necessarily my favorite, but it was relatively productive, and I suppose those are necessary now and then.

Friday was a fun day, and really the only free time of my weekend in which I did not feel guilty if I was doing something non-academic. Perhaps I should have felt more guilty, but that is not the point. I spent the evening with Rae, and we went to the Western basketball, where I met Rae's intimidating uncle, who turned out to be the girls varsity soccer coach (funny how worlds collide.) We went to the game to see Rae's cousin get crowned the Snowfest King, which I'm pretty sure means homecoming king. It was a little bit ironic because I had actually watched both Western teams a week before, only that time I was rooting against them. After that, we went back to Spring Arbor, and played about 2 and a half hours of volleyball. Had I known I was going to do that, I wouldn't have worked out as much as I did this past week, but I guess it was good for me. It was a lot of fun though, a good mixture of having fun but still taking it seriously. It was better than intramural volleyball too because I didn't have to wait in line in order to get into the rotation. I got to play the whole time. What's even better, I spent time with guys! I don't really know them that well, but they have penises nonetheless, which is refreshing. They were pretty funny too.

Bri and I came back from volleyball, went to Awaken 24, and watched AEon Flux, which was sort of a grown up version of spykids. Super bizarre, yet intriguing. It was also one of the shortest action films I've ever seen.

Saturday, I woke up, decided I couldn't afford to go to Calvin, and then went back to bed for an hour nap. After that, I went to the library with a list of 21 things to get done, of which after 5 hours of studying/working, 2 were accomplished. Ang, Bri, and I went to WalMart for like 2 hours, and then came back. Oh how entertaining any task is with those two. Bri and I watched Bones, and She's the Man while I debated the morality of tattoos via Frank Cugini's facebook status. Who'd-a thought?

Today, I woke up later than I expected to, and listened to a church sermon while in the shower, just in case my Grandma called to ask if I went to church. The sermon wasn't the best I had heard from that particular speaker, but the video it started out with was pretty powerful. I spent the majority of the day on the floor on my back, with my legs on the futon, either laying on a heating pad or a leaky bag of ice. I may have enjoyed 2 and a half hours of volleyball, but my body did not. I fear this means I am getting old, which I'm not too crazy about. I worked on homework/checked facebook/played bubbleshooter/did anything else that didn't mean homework just from that position just about all day. I got what needed to get done, done though. The grand 21-item list did not get anywhere near completed = / such is life I suppose. But the work for Monday and some of Tuesday was completed.

Well now I am off to bed, once again later than I had originally intended. Tomorrow probably will not be any better. I have to study for my Marriage and Family test, which I think is the only thing I have left to do for Tuesday, but I'm slightly terrified. Naomi Larsen seems to be a tough, no-nonsense woman. Seems a pretty common attitude for Sociology profs (Jeremy Norwood comes to mind.) I also am fasting my phone. Last day for the phone fast though. Hopefully I'll be able to find some time to eat pancakes and go to open mic night, perhaps even gather the courage to sing. Well, here's to a good night's rest.

Peace and balessens : )
